Warm LED Streetlights Are Coming to Long Island

Starting this year, Long Island has made success on warm LED streetlights with the color temperature of 3000K or lower, thanks to IDA Dark-Sky. The first three towns have been completed with warm LED lights. Southampton - Installed warm LEDs in all its 3,000 streetlights. Expects to save $1.9 million over 24 years. East Hampton - Installed warm LEDs in all its 1,500 streetlights, saving $100 in energy costs annually. Southold - Installed warm LEDs in all its 220 streetlights, saving $20,000 in energy costs annually. Babylon - Will install warm LEDs in all its 13,250 streetlights this year. Projected annual savings of up to $800,000. Village of East Hampton - Installed a few warm LEDs in the town's 888 lights. Considering installing more. Brookhaven - Installed warm LEDs in 400 of the town's 43,000 streetlights, saving $80,000 in utility costs annually. Plans to convert rest.
